About My Island Homeschool

Welcome!
I have been immersed in the homeschool community for over a decade. I’ve homeschooled in different cities, in different living situations, through the baby and toddler years, and am currently navigating the high school years with my two oldest children. I’ve been involved in a handful of homeschool groups throughout the years, and am the responsible party behind my own local homeschool group that meets several times a month at our local parks and beaches.

Throughout these years, there is something I have noticed that remains consistent among homeschool parents- we love to share! We are happy to discuss curriculum choices, recipes to meals the majority of our children actually ate, coach/doctor/book recommendations… the list goes on. My favorite, though, has always been resources- you know, that actually make homeschooling affordable for everyone. A free unit study over here, a deeply discounted product there, perhaps even a tip that the curriculum I’ve been eyeing for ages always holds a sale during one specific time of year.

I have spent countless hours over the years tracking these types of things down for my family’s use, even to the extent of creating full year-long studies using resources I found on the internet for free, while adding in supplemental reading from our local library, and videos on YouTube.

I know that homeschooling can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to cost a lot! It is possible to homeschool on a very limited budget and still create a flourishing atmosphere for your family to thrive in. My hope with this blog is to encourage and strengthen families as they pursue an educational journey alongside their children, with resources that are supportive and affordable.

Happy homeschooling, friends!
